4th Grade Art 2017-18
Students were polled about the art room learning space. One of the questions included "What would you like to change in the art room to help learning?" One of the top answers was moving the tables which were immediately reconfigured. We collaborated to explore other possibilities. Students used a copy diagram of the art room and rectangular tiles to explore ideas.
This 4th grade class voted on creating mini surf boards for the art show "Island Dreams". Our first step involved collaborating with a paper plate, scissors and tape to create a prototype. Students then used a prototype to create their own surf board with paper mache and bright acrylic paint.
4th grade students created amazing mini sand castles with clay. After a day of practice and a video presentation on sand castles and clay tools, we practiced for an art class before constructing our castles. We used science, technology engineering, art and math (STEAM) in the creation of our architectural wonders. Students chose to glaze and/or adorn with mini rocks, shells, or glass globs.
These students finished their project for the April art show "Island Dreams" and decided to create a Hawaiian lei with tissue and string.
2016-17 Creekmoor Art
We started the year with a look at Op Art and Pop Art, and began to create our rays and spirals in bright colors using rulers and compasses, markers and florescent or patterned paper from the 1950. We are learning about Modern Artists Roy Lichtenstein, Andy Warhol, Claus Oldenburg, and Wayne Thiebaud.
